Maria Kalara

Was born in Athens and started her career as a volleyball player in 1988. She played in several teams in A1 Division (Ionikos N.F, Aris, VAO Thesssalonikis) as well as teams of lower divisions. She has been a volleyball coach since 1996 for girls u16, u19 and women’s teams. She has also been assistant coach in u17 girls’ national team and boys and girls u17 national team coach for region of East Athens.

Since 1998 she is a P.E teacher at St. Lawrence College and she is holding the post of Head of Athletics since 2014. She has been a member of the Nomos European Volleyball Exposure team since inception and has led the efforts of the coaches on the court, as well as the organization of prospects' information, videos, and key material for US coaches' review. She is also leading US coaches' tours and recruiting visits in Greece year-round. She coordinates all volleyball events for Nomos in Greece and aligns efforts with regional and national-level coaches, clubs, schools, and talent-identification scouting sources.
